[Alistair's face can be seen and he looks confused (what's new) whilst wearing a...is that a Santa hat? Yes...yes it is. He also has a bit of red tinsel around his neck. He's sat outside wearing some warm clothes (not his armour, for once). Almost looks like he'd just recently been ambushed by some enthusiastic Christmas loving Death City Citizen]

I have a, probably stupid, question but...what exactly is Christmas?

It's where you give kids presents, eat fried chicken, then try to get laid!

Just because a guy takes a girl on a date on Christmas Eve does NOT mean that he's trying to get into her pants!

A method of extorting money through good cheer and some forgotten myth hardly anyone gives a fuck about anymore.

[imitating alistair's tone of voice;]

Oh, I got kidnapped by a box, but everyone else is so nice and friendly, it can't be that bad.

[switching to his flat, grinchmode tone:]

It's part of a campaign for consumerism and false hopes. Why the hell should their random happiness matter?

I have never heard of Christmas either until I came here. I think you give gifts to people who are closest to you.

I think that's part of it.

Well, it is a beautiful thing, when you think about it. Who wouldn't want a gift? *And my, aren't you rugged~*

A time of the year generally spent with friends, family, and loved ones, usually involving gift-giving.

How you spend Christmas depends on where you live and your family's religion; for example, Christmas in my country is generally considered a special date night, or a night to be in the company of family. It's the same in other countries as well, but some also celebrate it as the day of birth of an important religious figure. America, the country we're in now, is one of those countries that consider Christmas this.

[Glad to have someone helpful, Alistair?]

Mm, it is quite nice. The holiday is celebrated only a few days after winter begins, so there's usually snow by that time. All the decorations, multicolored lights, and fresh snow on the ground... it's quite a sight. [She'll never mention that last Christmas for her only served to increase that gaping loneliness in her heart, and she spent a good chunk of that night tracking and fighting down one of her world's witches. Not a nice memory, no sir.]

Make sure to find what you want to get your friends as soon as possible. The closer it gets to the holiday, the more crowded the stores become.

According to my partner, it's some sort of religious holiday that kind of got taken over by the merchants and made mainstream. Apparently, it's sort of become a holiday to be with friends and family.

And ignore Masaru, he's an idiot.

I dunno. This kind of thing is new to me--we don't usually exchange gifts on Solstice. If they're good, heck yeah.

It's supposed to be the celebration of the birth of a major religious figure in some places, even though it doesn't make any sense that that figure would be born on that day. It coincides with the ancient celebration of an entirely different religion, in order to make the transition of religions easier on the people of the world.

Oh, and it's usually celebrated by giving each other gifts. It doesn't really make any sense. You're better off just going with the flow.

It's the celebration of the birth of Jesus, son of God. There are various ways of celebrating, but Jesus is the important part.

Not a stupid question at all, given the fact that we're from different worlds and the like.

It's a Holiday celebration. It has become quite popular around the world and all about spending money and partying.

It is hardly stupid if- and this is only presuming that I am correct- the holiday does not exist in your world.
