[ The post is supposed to be voice, since she's holding the device close to her face and to the side; the camera has an odd shot of her lower face and neck, sideways, though there are some odd new marks where there were none the last time she posted with video on the network. A long scar across the base of her throat, from her bottom lip to her chin. She's not paying attention to the camera, though- There's the noise of a video game in the background, the clicks of controller buttons. ]

How many video games are there where you get to run around and kill things in the shops here? I finally finished one, but I want something else now. Preferably with very nice pictures and lots of choices for weapons, and things like-- Ah!

[ Fight music from the television, and she's setting the device down on the arm of the chair so she can use both hands on the controller. Her hair is covering what might be some scars on her forehead, but she's too preoccupied with the television across the room to look at the device for a clear view just yet.

When victory music begins playing, Rhode finally reaches for the device again- A brief shot of something not quite right with her nails- picking it up. It seems she finally noticed the blinking light, since a shot of her palm is punctuated by a curse and the rushed pushing of a button as it switches to voice.  ]

[ god damned stupid lousy inconsiderate time players. what kind of degenerates visited at such an ungodly hour, kicking innocent trolls out of their makeshift cocoons? humans did, that's what. he hasn't been able to sleep again since. alas, his life.

[Not having touched the DEMISE network since Halloween (or even leaving his apartment much aside from getting smokes for that matter) Matt figures its only a couple days longer he can get away with this self-blame sulking bullshit before certain people come picking the lock on his door. He sticks to text this time though, instead of his usual video.]

What do you know, I'm actually alive after all. Haven't checked out the network in a while though. Did I miss anything?

Aside from another influx of people I guess.

[Today's weather is 59/39F (15/4C).

Sob, sorry guys. You won't be able to see me very clearly today with all of this rain. In fact, you won't be able to see much of anything since WHOOPS, the power is going out today between 5-7AM and also, after 8pm which will unfortunately last until morning. Good luck with that. I wish I could provide some guiding light for you all, but it looks like the city will be pretty dark and cold today...

Also, lots of important things to note this time around! One, Check this list to make sure you passed activity check. Even new characters have to reply so make sure to do so! Also, jobs slots have changed a bit! Check to see which jobs are now available! Last but not least, it's never too late to do a training log or to join the partnership log. Try them both out!]

[At some point in the early in the morning, around, say 4:55, Lain has not yet gone to sleep.

In fact when the video comes on, Normal is being lit only by the glow of what appears to be about 6 different computers she's typing and working on simultaneously.
]

I've managed to get several computers running by now. I'm sure I can figure out a way to connect them to the network here too.. But until then I can at least use these to practice coding and building them.

[She smiles a little to herself; with her computers, with technology, she has a lot more confidence in her own abilities--she hasn't stuttered or hesitated with her words once, like she normally would]

We've been working on this for the past 5 hours straight. We've just finished, as soon as I hit sav--

[The power goes out before she can touch anything. There's a dismayed cry of shock from Normal.

And then a moment of stunned silence before there's an ear-piercing shriek of complete and utter rage from Bold

The sound of her cursing and breaking things can be heard next. Ouch, that sounded expensive didn't it?

[It's sometime late morning. Unlike those who are panicking and screaming and running around since ungodly hours in the morning over whatever, this god is rolling around in bed watching the chaos unfold on his comm. He's somewhat recovered from the cold that plagued him the past couple days and is now bored and hungry. Hair keeps getting in the way, ugh.

And then a thought. Not really expecting an answer but curious, he turns on the voice function. No need to show the world that he's looking worse for wear.]

[a quick clearing of the voice and then a pause]

What food do you consider to be good around here? Taste, I mean.

((Oops should've said this when I posted but be prepared for some frustration as describing taste to Apollo is the same as doing so to a newborn baby who doesn't know what he likes or doesn't, has no standard to judge by.

AND ALL REPLIES WILL BE VOICE))

[hello, Death City. it is five thirty in the morning and for a few minutes the only sound coming from the comm is the raging storm outside and the intermittent clack of someone knitting. finally a voice speaks up, sounding both too young for her speech and too calm for the situation. if anything, Rose is amused.]

Despite my suspicions that voicing such an opinion will end in the formation of an angry mob to beat me senseless at the pillory, the presence of such inclement weather is enough of an impetus for me to seek lively conversation.

I don't see the point in scurrying about like a drowning chicken with its head cut off in search of BREW. The machine has been repeatedly stated to work exactly the same no matter its location, as well as having proven impervious to all manner of destruction both conventional and otherwise. What does it matter if it is returned in an hour or a month? The more urgent problem that should be addressed is how an object apparently under such heavy security was lifted from its place with ease. But that's a bit too logical for this time of night, isn't it? Proceed to retrieve your metallic cube and place it back where it was stolen from.

[she pauses as a particularly fantastic thunderclap unfolds, then proceeds] Now, on to matters of questionably greater importance. The power is out, a storm is battering us, and we are a group of otherworldly strangers connected by means of rather atmospheric devices. Why has no one begun to regale the rest of the community with spine-chilling tales of horror and gore? Surely you can't all be out heedlessly seeking pneumonia.

I propose a story competition. Let's see who has brought with them from home the most terrifying story. Although I must warn any who consider throwing their hat into the ring, this is something of my area of expertise. Tread carefully lest you leave in tears.
[identity profile] saynotoballs.livejournal.com
I apologize if it is...ah, as they say, "too soon" to speak of BREW, but occasions such as this make me wish that it had allowed my friends to travel here along with me. Several of them could light darkened areas without the use of electricity, and others were quite adept at tracking things via olfactory cues.

I would imagine that if they were able to locate spirits with no corporeal bodies, and thus, no bodily functions to give them strong scents, then they would be able to aid Shibusen and the Watch in their search for BREW's abductor.

Of course, I would not wish my friends to be brought here against their wills as we were-- thus I suppose this is all what one would call wishful thinking?

[He cuts the feed, then reappears only a couple minutes later]

On second thought, one friend has been brought here! His name is Touya, and I would appreciate if you all received him as warmly as you have received me. He wears a red hat with a ball on it, if you have seen him about.

[And now he's done for real this time!]

[-- And deep in the dark recesses of the power outage of a morning, all your communicators blare with Spirit's very angry grousing.]

All right, whoever took it, give it back! The BREW's not going to work for you or for anyone else, so you had better surrender it right now! [REDHEADED WRAAAAAAATH.]

We know it wasn't a witch or a kishin egg or any of the constructs that took it, so it can only be someone in the city. We're investigating the residents as we speak, so I am just going to drop a line here. IF YOU TOOK THE BREW, YOU HAD BETTER GIVE IT BACK PEACEFULLY. And maybe I won't make you clean every single brick on the city!

Do we really have to allot people for this, too--

[And the feed abruptly cuts off as Spirit filters.]

[Filtered to the Agency and the Watch.]

Not a nice time to get a storm. Hey Miles, Near and Light, if you guys saw anything with the cameras, better tell me now. Armstrong, get people to watch the streets! Apprehend all suspicious folk!

[ooc: Spirit is going to run around the city like a loon, so expect slow or no replies.]
[identity profile] sparklingmanly.livejournal.com
[This post is made just about ten minutes after this post from Spirit. Anyone can tell that the situation is tense from the way Armstrong is speaking.]

It has been reported by the Deathscythe, Spirit Albarn, that sometime earlier in the morning the Demon Tool BREW has been taken away from its place in the Kishin Chamber. While the power outage is still ongoing, I would still like to ask those in public to help keep an eye out for anyone who might be in possession of the item, and to inform either the Watch or the Agency should you spot anybody holding BREW. It is imperative that it is returned to the Kishin Chamber as soon as possible.

For the culprit who might be seeing this post: I ask you kindly to return BREW back to Shibusen, or else drastic actions might have to be taken.

Filtered | The Watch
As mentioned, be sure to keep a lookout for the culprit who took hold of BREW. As of now there is no clue to the perpetrator, but hopefully the Agency might be able to find the one responsible soon with their cameras. When the culprit is identified, I will inform you all yet again. Until then, continue to keep an eye out. We cannot rest until BREW is safely back in the kishin chamber.

[Added a while later] For those who do not know, BREW looks like this: [And here he links the picture Spirit gave - ta-da!]
[identity profile] terra-inflexus.livejournal.com
[Toph's sitting in front of the camera]

First we get invaded by newbies again, then it storms, and now BREW's missing. What's next, flying ostrich horses? [She can't say pigs. Her family symbol is a flying pig.]

[Then she smirks a little]

So is there something up with the power? I keep hearing people running into things like they're blind or something.
