yamagishi: (I didn't think it was polite to listen)

[In which...Fuuka isn't quite sure how to respond to this. If possible, Fuuka feels even more awkward than before about this post.]

Um...[A pause.] i-it seems there is someone stealing things lately.

[Another pause] Uh...someone has stolen a black jacket from my room when I wasn't looking. I-If it's possible, can the members of the watch return it to me once you find it? It's something important and...I would like it if I can. [Because the jacket...wasn't quite hers]

W-Whoever this person is...I hope that we can find him soon.

It seems like the party was a big hit, doesn't it? Maybe that's something that can be done on a semi-regular basis. Obviously it would take a lot of work, and there would be instances where it wouldn't be a good time for it, but I think it's a great way of bringing the community together and lifting people's spirits, even if it is only once in awhile.

Unfortunately, it looks as though we have another problem on our hands now, and there's been a lot of panic over the network. To be honest, I really doubt it's a single person behind all of these thefts, considering the amount of victims and the fact that it's all happened in quick succession. It would be pretty reckless for a single person to spontaneously up and decide one day to rob as many people as they could, especially considering you wouldn't want to be caught if your aim was to steal the items for yourself. Even with a large scale group it seems more like an act of mischief—a way to get people riled up—than anything else. Especially considering the fact that if it is a group of people that only lessens the possibility that it's simply an act of spontaneity, since criminals usually form groups for organizational purposes.

Well, I guess we'll figure out what their angle is once we catch them, won't we? That's the top priority here, and considering the competency of the Watch, as well as the fact that the thieves have pretty much thrown all caution to the wind here, I have no doubt that it won't be long before they're caught.

[The communicator turns on, and it seems that Vanille is yelling rather loudly at some random strangers...]

IT WAS A BIG SHADOW OKAY! PEOPLE ARE GETTING THINGS STOLEN, YEAH?! THIS GUY CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND JUST POUNCED ME! LIKE A GIANT BAT, HOW COULD YOU NOT SEE THAT!?

[She keeps yelling and screaming at these people who are trying to tell her to calm down, and the video might make some people dizzy. She's waving it around a lot.]

DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN! I HAD THINGS THAT WERE IMPORTANT IN THAT POUCH, YEAH!? DON'T TELL ME TO BE CALM WHEN THERE'S A BAT GUY FLYING THROUGH THE AIR STEALING THINGS FROM PEOPLE!

[She throws her hands up in the air with an annoyed sigh.]

LOOK, I JUST --- [She's cut off as someone says something, and then she's really screaming.] I DESERVE TO HAVE STUFF STOLEN BECAUSE OF HOW I DRESS!? NO, YOU GET BACK HERE, YEAH? I'M GOING TO TAKE YOU OUT FOR SAYING THAT!

[The screen cuts in to Masaru near the window, looking out at the creeper moon. He half turns, about to say something (probably about all the crime today) when:]

Huh? What was-?

[He sticks his head out the window, seeing something moving across the roofs. He smirks.]

Ha! You're not getting away from the great Daimon Masaru-sama!

[And with that said he grabs hold of the window frame... and starts hauling himself outside. It is very obvious he's not on the ground floor, and in his rush he kicks the DEMISE comm over. So here you go DC, a sideways view of one (1) Masaru climbing out the window and... up the gutters near his window like a crazy spider monkey.]

((ooc: Masaru won't be responding to anyone here, but feel free to see him climbing by your window if you live in the Communal building. Anyone who wants to call out/throw things/heckle him can tag here!))

[No. This is not good, not good at all. Hello, Watch, Genesis is quite frowny. He hasn't heard anything from headquarters yet, so he decides to mobilize his own Zone first.]

If you haven't heard, there have been reports of theivery occuring in the city. And it's not just one or two simple ones either. And as I've heard, one of our own under this Zone has been victim to this, too. [Ahem, Mr. Fair. He's a bit disappointed in you. There's a little pointed look there that's meant for you alone.] Thus far, I've counted seven of these reports. While most of them might have occured at the residences, the thieves may have sought a hiding place amidst the shopping district crowd.

I won't be surprised if this is the work of a syndicate, so everyone, keep a sharper eye on your areas. Employ necessary measures to better surveil the Zone as needed. I want this Zone kept as secure as possible. If you see any questionable figures moving quickly, do not hesitate to give chase and report immediately to me or Vergil.

That will be all.

[The feed clicks on as Gin is settling back into his chair. The communicator has been placed on the table, so one can plainly see that he only has his red-trimmed black shirt on at the moment. Hey, doesn't he usually have something else kind of haphazardly draped over his form, too?]

So somewhere, long ago, some old guy- [Because it's always an old guy, isn't it?] -said that humans are too wrapped up in layers, right? [Oh really, Gintoki?] That humans should shed these layers in order to live honestly, happily and in peace with one another, right? That these protective layers are only walling in our hearts, protecting us not only from the horrors of this world, but shielding the goodwill of others. Well, to the thief who stole my kimono last night: [And he slams both hands on the table.]

STEALING A LAYER OF MY CLOTHING ISN'T CLEVER, YOU BASTARD!! Are you subtly trying to tell me that I'm not a good person?! No! Listen up, asshole! Give me my kimono back! Not only is it a symbol of me, I need that layer back so it can protect me from conniving thieves like you!!

It's people like you that are the reason why teenagers rebel against their parents! Why mother-in-laws nag about how you're not feeding their grandchildren properly! Why nobody wants to help little old ladies cross the street!

HAVE SOME SHAME, DAMN YOU!

[And the communicator is violently switched off.]

[HELLO AGAIN DEATH CITY, THIS IS YOUR RESIDENT ENGRISH-SPEAKING SAMURAI IN THE NETWORK ONCE AGAIN. So all these reports of thievery and all that whatnot has gotten to Date’s attention since he had nothing else to do but go through the network with his communicator and now that he has wind of this news he is all rearing to get himself back into action! Thus here you all will now see now very pumped up Date at the screen once it flickers on, totally determined to get out of the clinic so that he can help in hunting down those dastardly thieves.]

So I’ve been hearing about all these news regarding those thieves, and nobody has found them yet? Hah! You all are going to need all the help that you can get with this then! [And here he does his standard crossing arms thing over his chest, flashing his usual confident grin.] Don’t worry, just give me a moment to get out of here and grab my swords so I can get out there and go find those thieves as well. They’re definitely going to regret the error of their ways once they--

[And whatever Date is supposed to say next never happens, because now the communicator’s being whisked off by a large hand. Some of you may recognize it as Koujurou’s.

...Where the hell did he come from, huh? :|]

--what the hell, Koujurou?! [Yeah he may not be on screen now, but its clear that Date is very much not amused. At all. :|

Koujurou, however, is pointedly ignoring his master’s protest. Now the communicator is swinging around, to show the man’s srs face.]

To the members of the Watch:

My master is indisposed at the moment, and therefore unable to participate in any operations levied against the culprits.
[In b4 NO I’M NOT, I AM PERFECTLY FINE, young master. 8|] Should you feel the need to contact him, however, any and all missives must be directed to me instead. I will decide when to inform him in your stead.

[And right in the background:] Damnit Koujurou, give that back to me!

[But Koujurou ain’t listening, nah-uh! He doesn’t even make any indicator of hearing the younger man at all.]

We of Oshu regret the fact that we cannot aid the aggrieved parties or the Watch in any way, of course. We will compensate for our failure to respond in the future. [Significant pause.] Once my master is well.

Koujurou--

You have our gratitude for your understanding.

[SHUTTING THE FEED OFF NOW.]

[OOC: Blue is Date, and brown is Koujurou! And for pretty much everything in this post, Koujurou will be the one replying. Also yeah, Date will be just restrained to his bed for the entirety of the day. He is not amused. :|]

[Have the Commander of the Watch, looking totally serious. But he's actually somewhere between incredibly satisfied and amused, after flipping through all of those posts...]

I don't suppose it needs to be said, but for the sake of formality...

There's a group of thieves operating around town. To those of you who have had their belongings stolen: we're working on it. If you have any leads, direct them towards me, or to any of the Zone Leaders of the Watch. To the rest of you: keep the windows closed, the doors locked, and whatever matters to you close at hand.

Rest assured: Death City's Office for General Security will see that these thieves are brought to justice by tomorrow morning.

Filter | Watch | NOW WITH SUPER ENCRYPTION because people are watchiiiing!

Dante, Riou, Itachi, Ran Fan, Tres and Greed: as your Zone Leader, I am ordering you to scour your area and see if you can pick up anything about our thieves. Keep an eye on the network too, in case there were victims from the Entertainment District. That's our turf, and they're messing with it.

To the rest of the Zone Leaders: as your Commander, I am quite proud of your response time, and the coordination you're doing with your teams. Keep it up. Oh, and if you've managed to dig up anything, let me know.

To all remaining Watch members: I want us to bring out the big guns and take these guys down on the second and third shifts tonight. I do not, however, encourage the use of lethal force - I want these ones brought in alive.

People who have been assigned to the first shifts are not expected to join in this operation, unless you're up for it. If you are, tell your Zone Leaders.

Filter | Mustang's Band of Merry Faux Thieves Ezio, Ran Fan, China, Kuroro | NOW WITH SUPER ENCRYPTION!

[And he's dropping the act, and flashing you all a crooked smile.]

Good show. Take care of yourselves tonight, all right?

ooc: THE WATCH LOG WILL BE GOING UP REALLY SOON, GUYS. T^Tb Oh, and if there are still people who want to post up their muses people victimized on the network, feel free!

Do possessions really mean so much to people that you would sacrifice your sanity for them? I understand certain items, such as familial heirlooms. a bit [Written and then quickly deleted.] But clothes? Accessories?

Why are these things so important to you?

[A long pause, as she considers what to write.]

The Minatos are fine. They eat approximately the same amount, proportioned for size. Though one doesn't eat insects. [That's a joke. Ha ha.]

[Filter: Mukuro]

I have sketches to show you, if you are interested. Some of the newer residents do not classify as strictly human.

[It's nighttime, Toph is running, and you can hear this thread happening]

We found one in the Shopping District! Gray's chasing him on the roof, no idea who it is. Can we get some backup or something?

[Motochika is looking a little bit annoyed at all the reports of stolen goods.]

What kind of person steals mere trinkets? A kimono, an 'eye fone', an animal... If you're going to do it, steal something more valuable why don't you?!

This pirate here is disappointed in the quality of your bandits.

[YES YOU THIEVES FAIL AT STEALING.]
