I am posting to inform you that we are working on a surveillance system that will keep an eye out in the areas where these sand constructs are thought to be hiding.

[Hesitates a bit. It seemed like he was debating for a while over what he wanted to say. He really shouldn't be saying this but.]

Those of you that are going out...

It is very likely that there will be kishin eggs roaming about, no doubt about it. It will be safer overall to have a meister/weapon pair in each group, but whatever you do... be careful.

[lets out a cough]

Please remember that each communicator has an SOS button in case of emergency. That goes for everyone.

[PRIVATE TO MELLO]

I would like to talk to you.

[PRIVATE TO NEAR]

I would like to talk to you.

[PRIVATE TO MATT]

I would like to talk to you.

[Katsura's sitting down as he says this. He looks kind of annoyed, but otherwise appears to be relaxed.]

I did not speak about the kidnapping situation previously, but I have something to say to all of the people who are thinking of beginning a rescue mission without a plan: You're being foolish. You're attempting to locate an enemy that you can't find easily, you wish to fight an enemy that you cannot assess and you want to rescue people without knowing what you're up against, but you will not accomplish that if you do not even have a direction to begin with.

There is so much being said about the kidnappings on the network, but I have not seen many people trying to think of a real course of action. Instead, it appears that people have made up their minds to either act on their own or enlist the help of only a few other people. [He sighs.] Going on your own is noble, but do you wish to suffer the same fate as your friends? Honestly, I would have thought that someone would have thought of rallying more than a dismal amount of mostly unarmed people, but it appears that emotions have clouded your judgment.

Although I've said all of this, I know that it won't stop anyone who already plans to try. Fortunately, I have my Weapon now so I can assist those of you who still wish to rescue their friends. I'm Katsura Kotarou, and Elizabeth is my partner. [He turns to look at her and then he looks back at the screen in a way that suggests that he's whispering] She's rather shy and she seems cuter this way but I think she'll get used to the city soon.

[There's a rather life-sized doll of Elizabeth to the right of the sofa...how in the world did he manage to get that!?]

Ha ha ha! Elizabeth, when did you become so quiet? I know you usually don't talk, but even a signboard greeting will surely make them smile! Anyway, I'm looking forward to working alongside all of you. [And the feed closes.]

[OOC: Just so we're all clear: While Katsura really is that delusional, there's a reason why the above part sounds so serious.]

[The feed flips on to show a strange and unique landscape which fills the screen...sideways. The "sky"--which isn't really a sky at all, despite its uniform luminous blue and its puffy wisps of cotton-wool clouds--takes up the left half of the screen, while a pale blond expanse of sandy ground takes up the right.

Not bare ground, mind, despite how oddly smooth and even the surface is (not at all like the dusty reddish sand and scrubby vegetation of the landscape around death city). This looks more like beach sand, or maybe, like the "sky", it's not even really sand at all.

Whatever it is, it's clear what the landscape is peppered with: crosses as far as the eye can see. Most of them simple and black, as of wrought iron. Some of them stand at odd angles, as though age has slanted them. And though some look old, they don't look weathered.

This, a few who have seen it before may recognize, is the Death Room. But it's not Death the Kid who appears on the screen (at this angle? No way). Instead it's Badou, his red hair tied back out of his face and his trademark cigarette between his lips, though currently unlit. The communicator has apparently fallen out of his pocket, and as it's on the side of his bad eye, he hasn't noticed it there broadcasting.

He is dusting off the surface of the nearest cross--one which looks newer than many of the rest--rubbing it with a cloth. He then reaches into his shirt pocket and pulls out a box which is actually not his pack of smokes.
So I brought this deck of cards. Look, I'll deal you a hand. You can play a little Five Card Stud with Eggberts two-through-five over there, yeah? [He glances at the cards.] No, you don't want that hand. Wait. Here, this one's better. Give it a go.

[And he sets the fan of playing cards against the cross's base and then steps back to survey his handiwork, suddenly noticing his communicator where it lays on the ground. He picks it up, righting the picture.]

Oh hey, sorry about that. Don't suppose anyone knows where I could get some packs of those whatchacallem's--Garbage Pail Kids--or something like that?

[OOC: So some of you might remember this and this. For those of you who don't, the short short version: Badou didn't want to eat souls. He and Al tried to find a solution. Al's since been sent home, but this is the solution and Badou's now in it for keeps.

Also, please consider this to be sometime in the morning on the 23rd. Derp derp.]

[Minato appears on screen, his usual carefree brow fixed with lines of determination. He glances off screen, then reaches over to receive a placard with simple and bold writing.]

Those from Iwatodai, Inaba, Ikebukuro, and others:

We should help the group searching the desert. Let's organize.

[The video feed starts abruptly, and for a few seconds there's a dizzying view of the ceiling as the communicator shudders and settles to a stop on a flat surface. The perspective is odd; it's upside down, and there's someone's arms on both sides of the camera, leading up to a pale face.

It's Kurapika, standing up after slamming his palms on the table, thereby jogging the communicator and turning the video option on--and guess who just found out about Watson getting kidnapped.]

Even Doctor Watson--

[The rest of the sentence gets choked off in a wordless sound of distress. The view is still upside-down, but the skewed position is near enough to catch his blue eyes flashing a brilliant red. The color doesn't let off even as he notices that the camera has accidentally turned itself on. He merely reaches out, rights the communicator, and flicks the video option off.]

[Video feed is shaky at best as Prussia stumbles throughout the clinic trying to leave, but uh, failing. He is bruised, bandaged, and beaten and obviously in the Clinic. He's pretty much yelling into the screen.]

OI!! CITIZENS!!

FIND WEST AS IF YOUR LIVES DEPENDED ON IT.

[making his way towards the door]

I'll join you soon enough!!
