U-um...

[Lain bites her lip, fidgeting on the screen. She's gotten this far already; it doesn't make sense to turn back now! Drawing on the strength of Bold, the presence warm in the back of her mind, she presses on]

How do you..flirt? With a boy, um, that you like...I want him to know I like him, but I--I can't actually tell him, that's too forward and embarrassing...

[She sighs, moving her hair behind her ear] Besides, he's a little-- oblivious, I guess.

He's an idiot.

Bold! [Lain huffs softly, embarrassed, and turns the communicator off.]

[All the people participating in Capture the Flag are in luck. Temperatures for today will be 16/1F (-9C/-17C), and the wind and the snow won't be blowing or falling as hard anymore. It's still cold, and it will continue to snow for a while yet, but the overcast sky will begin to clear a bit after the sun rises, giving everything a bright, peaceful shine.

Looks like the weather is on the way back to being more-or-less normal.]

[Activity check is today! Does everyone have their proofs? Reserves also reopen today, hope everyone's ready! Stein will be having classes starting from the New year; check here for more details if you think your character should be in it.]

[Colette is curled up with a mug of hot chocolate, courtesy of her fellow Chosen at Christmas. She's sitting on her couch, Caramel snoozing nearby, watching the snow for a moment before turning to the network brightly.]

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fun Christmas and got lots of presents! I hope everyone liked theirs, at least. The snow is pretty exciting, isn't it? I even went outside and made a snowman! I didn't think it would snow out here in the desert, but I guess it can get cold enough....

Oh, what does everyone think of the new class? It looks interesting.

[Filtered to Fuuka;]

I was thinking about going, would you like to, Fuuka? Oh, and I was going to ask when you wanted to have our friends over. Mine seem to be pretty much free outside of their Watch duties.

[ The communicator pans around an empty room. There is a distinct lack of shitty wand piles in the closet and there isn't anything else to give the room personality, either.

It's just Kurt's voice at first. ]

Hey... I thought I should let everyone know. It's not like I came in here often, but I'm pretty sure Eridan owned more than this. It looks like he might have gone home while I was in the clinic. I don't know how long it's been, either. But in case no one else noticed... there's your heads up.

[ He trails off as he twists the communicator around until it shows his face. He's smiling sadly. ] I wish I'd gotten a head's up. So much for getting help with rent. Oh well... I have a spare bedroom if anyone's interested.

[The comms unit turns on with the loud clunk of books being put on a table. It focusses on a ceiling, then is pushed to the edge of the table and falls off, landing on the floor, where the view of it's owner is considerably clearer, if at a very strange angle.

Accidental video is accidental )
((OOC: So yeah, Yazoo is in the library. Come bother him, poke him over comms, etc. Completely open, all are welcome! :D))

[ Death City Heights residents or at least people who’ve been to one of the houses in DCH would recognize this room - it’s one of those empty function/lobby/all-purpose rooms, although the table and chairs have been moved to the side. A bright magenta music player (a DeathPod, if you will...and yes, it is indeed magenta, and playing some classical music.) and its portable speakers are perched on said table.

There are two persons close by; a tall man whose suit matches his music player perfectly, offering his hand to the shorter girl. Gallantly. ]

Shall we begin?

[ The shorter of the two, with her red hair up and out of the way in a large bun at the back of her head, looks visibly nervous as she takes the man’s hand, but her lips are adorned with a smile. ]

Y--Yes! I’m ready--I--I think...

[ She releases a small giggle that’s surely a direct result of her nerves, but tries to swallow those nerves down and adopts a slightly more determined expression. ]

Very well. Place your other hand on my shoulder. [ On the other hand, Edgeworth’s free hand comes to rest at the middle of her back. ]

[ Thankfully, her arm is long enough to do so--and she does, placing her free hand lightly onto his shoulder as instructed. ]

L-Like this?

[ A nod from Edgeworth. ] Yes. Now, on the count of three, follow my lead. We will start slowly, with the basic steps, and the music will guide us. One, two...three.

[ At three, he begins to take careful, graceful steps forward, leading Ahiru slowly. ]

Okay! I-I’ll just...!

[ She is very noticeably less graceful as she stumbles after his lead, awkwardly looking down at their feet in hopes that it’ll help her from stepping on his shoes accidentally.

Edgeworth, on the other hand, is the picture of grace and precision. He steps and glides almost effortlessly without a single glance at the floor, keeping his eyes on Ahiru. Clearly, she had quite a long way to go before they moved to more difficult steps; constant eye contact with the feet was a classic quirk of the ballroom dance beginner. And yes, he had long passed that phase. ]

It would help if you count the steps as you go, Miss Ahiru.

[ She nods, her expression still a bit anxious as she tries not to keep her eyes up instead of glued to her feet.

The music was calming, at least. It reminded her of being back home and practicing ballet while Mr. Penguin played the piano. Surely, she could manage this, somehow... ]

O-One... two--three? One... oops!

[ Before she could prevent it, the redhead ends up taking two steps with the same foot--bringing it right down on one of Edgeworth’s in the process. Quickly, she retracts it, face flushing with embarrassment. ]

Ahhh! I’m so sorry!

[ The prosecutor, on his part, just shuts his eyes and tries not to react so noticeably. He keeps it to a little wince, swallows a gasp of pain, and shakes his head, his expression showing a hint of exasperation. ]

It’s...quite all right. [ He lets go of her and steps back a bit, closer to the table they had set aside. ] Perhaps we should - ah! [ Then he gasps in shock. Yes, he has just found out that their little dance class was being recorded this entire time. ] Miss Ahiru, did you leave your communicator on?!

Eh? [ She blinks, confusion showing in her eyes until she follows his train of sight to... ] Wah! I just put it down! I didn’t know it was--! Ahhh sorrysorry!

[ Hurriedly, she fumbles her way over the to device and shuts it off. ]

[ ooc: Edgeworth teaching Ahiru how to ballroom dance! :D Magenta is Edgeworth speaking, Blue is Ahiru.

Also, since I didn't have this put anywhere else, Ahiru definitely gave out Christmas presents! Anyone she's even talked to even once or twice will have received a box of chocolates! In addition to that, Germany will have gotten a gold pocket watch, and Prussia a blue journal - both of them with a note that it's also as special thanks for their help with the rescue from Michigan, and Edgeworth gets a stylish silver pen in its own little case. (Note: I did have images for these things, but I can't find where I saved them. XD; I'll link them in if that changes.) ]
