[The video switches on to a sideways, ground-level view of the inside of a Creeping Crypt apartment. There is an assortment of junk- paper bags, clothes, bits of trash, is that a teddy bear?- littered across the floor. Not lazily piled or pushed to the side, but scattered as if someone just dropped a lot of things and neglected to pick them up.]

Uhh, hello, Kanaya?

[The video flips around so you can see an obnoxiously close view of Tavros's face. Considering the awkward angle, he seems to be on the ground himself.]

Oh, wait...

[He reaches for the comm with his other hand, which has a brace wrapped around the wrist, and that's the last thing you get to see as he manages to switch over to a private feed.]

[Filtered to Kanaya]

Uhh, hello, again, it's, not super important but, I'm not sure who else to ask, so, do you think it would be okay for you to, come over here for a minute, um, when you have the time?

Wow it's been a while since I've gotten on DEMISE to make my own post. Feels kind of strange to think about.

Anyway I'm here first to basically try and catch up on some people I haven't talked to in a while, and just say hello to all those new recruits I have yet to talk to. The name is Rise Kujikawa!

I'm also wondering if anyone out there is looking for a job? I run the nearby international restaurant called Northern Lights and unfortunately BREW has returned a lot of my employees, so if you'd like to get paid outside of missions and are a hard worker let me know.

Also, um. I'm looking for a trainer. Ed use to train me a bit before he left. I know there are morning sessions but frankly I'm not very good and I know I'd probably hold up the training so I'd like to do something more one on one. I'd also prefer someone closer to my age if that's possible, so if anyone is willing to take it slow with me I'd appreciate it!

Hey Ran Fan. I was wondering if I could ask a favor of you...

Hey Yoko! Hey Mei! Could I talk to you two for a bit?

Looks like even the weather's been gettin' pretty bored with us, yeah? Been a while since somethin' ridiculous happened 'round here; think you guys're losin' your touch.

[he tsks teasingly at the screen, then leans back to blow a stream of smoke]

Anyway, didn't come on to lecture you guys on your lackin' anarchy skills. Mostly just wanted to say you ain't got rid of me yet, even if I been a little quiet lately. That, and I wanted to see if anymore of my buddies booked it since the last time I checked. Raise your hand if you left without tellin' me, assholes.

[he chews on his cigar for a moment, and then adds contemplatively] And I guess I got a hypothetical question for whoever likes answerin' that kinda shit. You figure carcinogens carry over from home? Like, shit that ain't supposed to hurt you but suddenly does here. What're the odds we get a blank slate in killin' ourselves with vices that weren't vices a few months ago?

...haha, man. Think I'm gonna haveta start lookin' for a partner if this is where my mind goes these day. That or start skimmin' the bar's stock! [he laughs and cuts the feed]

Okay! I promised a cooking club announcement, so here it is!

As I said last time, the meeting will be on Friday at about 3pm at Spirit-san's home. There's no real end time, other than logically when it starts to get late. This should give people enough time to come along a little later, or have a second go if they're not satisfied with what they've cooked.

There's a 'western' style food option, or an 'eastern' one to try cooking - you can either try something new, or go for something at least a little bit familiar. So you can either have a go at cooking Yakisoba, or burgers.

[There's a pause, and Minako tilts her head with a small and slightly sheepish grin.]

I know it's a little stereotypical, but they're simple enough to try so I've been a little unoriginal. I'll be posting some information on ingredients you need to bring and the process to go about the cooking at the end of this post.

[She tilts the communicator a little, so she can look seriously into the camera. Or as seriously as she can, which involves getting closer and frowning... and filtering this from a certain Death Scythe in the process.]

[Filtered from Spirit]

I want to reiterate this though - we're not cooking in my apartment. Spirit-sensei has kindly loaned us the use of his kitchen, so please be careful when you're cooking. We'll have the means to deal with any accidents during the club, but I'd be very grateful if we can avoid any fires, or major incidents.

Be extra careful on Friday, okay?

[The filter is clicked off, and Minako gives everyone a big smile.]

I'll see you at the club then!

[At the end of the feed, the screen switches to a text option with the ingredient and instruction lists for both yakisoba and home made burgers. Meanwhile, Minako has another filter going on sneakily, behind the scenes.]

[Filtered to Shinjiro and Akihiko]

[Minako frowns slightly. She's been a little worried, especially as she's so used to seeing them around given the fact they all live on the same floor of the communal.]

... Are you two all right? I haven't seen you in a while and I guess... [She huffs slightly, and rubs the back of her head.] ... I'm just being a little bit of a worry wart. Sorry.

[Frol is, predictably, not in the best of moods. But this time he has a legitimate reason for it!]

So do we know what happened to Sandry or what? It really sucks how somebody can just up and disappear like that around here. I mean, I'm glad she's out of my hair, but she's probably off getting herself killed back home or by a Witch or something.

[YES, LET HIM TELL YOU HOW MUCH HE DOESN'T CARE.]

For something so high-tech, BREW sure isn't good at picking people. First little kids, and now that pack of freaky grey things. I don't even care which ones are good or bad guys anymore, they oughta all just get out.

...and I thought it'd be nice not being the only person here not from Earth. Seems like everyone else either is, or doesn't even know what a planet is.

[You can hear D moving around, but that's all. If you listen closely to the background noise, you might be able to surmise that he's outside (he's actually on the balcony). His tone sounds rather cheery, as usual.]

The weather is quite nice today, isn't it? The day just started and I'm already enjoying it. It's been a few years since I've been in a place with such agreeable weather this late in the year.

[D pauses. It seems he's reminded of something.]

Halloween is right around the corner. What are everyone's plans? Hmm... How many of you celebrate this holiday? [D pauses, and when he speaks again, he sounds rather nostalgic.] Where I last lived, Halloween wasn't really celebrated (not in October, at least), but when I lived in America last, children wearing costumes of all kinds used to go trick-or-treating: that is, they went from house to house to get candy from the people living there. It started as a holiday to honor the day.

What are your traditions? I would be most interested to hear about your cultures and worlds.
