[A lone Aya can be seen in the device's frame, but don't worry-- you can hear little Eve humming to herself in the background while she draws. As a side note, Aya appears, strangely enough, a few years older than the last time she was seen on video.]

Eve's getting restless being stuck in the apartment all day. Even in New York,  I felt more comfortable taking her out. [Without realizing it, she rubs the back of her neck uneasily as she turns her attention out the window.] It's ironic, feeling homesick... guess I was used to it, at least. Frogs falling from the sky? Not so much.

[Uneasy pause.] So, maybe... there is something worth fighting for. How do you find out if you're a meister or a weapon?

[Private to Mifune.]

If you're still offering, I'd appreciate it if you took Eve out somewhere. [This is painful to be asking, but only a slight twitch of the eye indicates uneasiness.] She'll be happy doing anything so long as someone's with her.

[Private to Cloud.]

Still up for that drink sometime? I think I need to get out the apartment myself.

Mm, a couple things of note. To all the new arrivals, hello, my name is Winry Rockbell. I'm head medic here, and run the clinic along with Dr. Watson, so if any of you would like to lend a hand please let me know. Treatment here is free, so it's volunteer work so unfortunately we can't pay too much.

On that note, if I could get ahold of any Shibusen staff to ask about setting something up in the clinic, that would be really great.

Edward. I expect to see you for our little sparring match once my shift is over

...oh! And Miranda? I have something I'd like to ask you.

((ooc; at friend's house so expect late replies, but I shall do them when I return home!))

[Video;

Enma is sitting on the ground outside of the Casualty Communal, back against the wall, the faint traces of a smile on his face. The mews of multiple cats can be heard, and as he adjusts the angle of the camera, it becomes obvious that he's amassed a small crowd of scruffy, underweight strays.]

Are the--

[As he begins, a cat sniffs at the communicator before curiously batting at it. He stops with a "Wait, don't do that...", picks up the cat, and moves it carefully out of the way]

Are they anyone's...? They just followed me.

[And then he's looking back down at the cats with a "Sorry, you won't all fit inside" sort of expression]

[he's standing near the ice cream place. the display looks almost woefully empty and the place just a little deserted.]

Ah, even the ice cream parlour was badly hit. I was hoping it'd be spared, but ... no desserts for me in the meantime, I guess.

[slightly serious tone, but for the most part it's kept light and jovial, even.]

... with all that commotion around, I believe there are people I forgot to extend a special welcome to. [smiiiiiiiile. you decide if it's a nice one.] Welcome.

-- I suppose it was just a matter of time, after all. As with everything else.

[the last bit was said thoughtfully, and it's more for himself than anything else.]

[VOICE. static -- the sound of someone moving it, testing the communicator. occasionally you might hear a 'hmm'.

switches to TEXT.]

communicator not switching to language. stuck in capitalist block letters. english, it says. a disorganized language. a brutish language. you need a key to shift tones, disguise meaning, delegate and re-delegate importance in words? uncoordinated. back home, the slightest tone can either kill or break. or both.

[back to VOICE. for a moment, there is nothing. like the other line had disappeared, and forgotten that the communicator's still running.

and then:]

Souls, they say. They talk of feeding on souls. I know of souls. [horrible smile. not that you can see, but you bet it's there.] I have a hundred million of them.
